Job summary

Northwell Health is seeking a Patient Care Technician for Danbury Hospital to support nursing staff and assist with patient care activities on the General Medicine 1 unit.

The role requires a High School Diploma; CNA certification is preferred and BLS/CPR must be obtained within 90 days of orientation. Duties include POC testing, data entry, and ensuring patient safety and comfort in a busy hospital environment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Experience in a hospital environment is preferred but not required.
• Active CNA certification preferred; BLS/CPR within 90 days of start date.

Responsibilities

• Provides physical care to assigned patients and performs technical skills such as point of care testing.
• Implements nursing orders promptly and adequately with an understanding of the purpose of each.
• Follows policy and procedure for assigned patient care activities, including unit specific equipment.
• Provides patient comfort by positioning, bathing, linens, and courteous communication.
• Ensures patient safety through preventative measures and hourly rounding.
• Enters data into the computer system and communicates observations to the nurse in charge.
• Adapts care to age-related needs and documents changes in patient condition.
