Job summary

UTMB Health seeks a Nursing Assistant to provide basic technical assistance and patient care within a correctional healthcare setting. You will collect data, assist with feeding and hygiene, monitor mobility, and support safety and privacy.

Responsibilities include vital sign documentation, POCT, and maintaining a clean, safe environment per the plan of care. Current BLS-HP is required, and pre-employment drug testing is part of the process.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent or completion of one of the listed technical programs.
• Current BLS-HP is required.
• UTMB Hospital Aide training program or related clinical program is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Collects vital signs, height and weight, intake and output, and collects specimens.
• Performs and reports POCT.
• Assists with patient activities and care as assigned by the charge nurse/designee.
• Maintains patient privacy and confidentiality of information and records.
• Maintains a clean, safe environment and adheres to infection control measures.
