Job summary

Allegheny Health Network is seeking a patient care assistant to provide direct care to patients, support non-direct unit coordination, and assist RNs for stable patients. You will perform basic nursing procedures, maintain medical asepsis, document care in the EMR, and support admissions, discharges, and transfers under RN supervision.

The role emphasizes teamwork, time management, and adherence to hospital policies, with responsibilities including vital signs, activity of daily living

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Limited or no experience; must be able to attend 2 weeks of training.
• Ability to read, write and follow oral and written instructions.
• Basic computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Provides and documents direct patient care and activities such as activities of daily living, vital signs, ambulation, intake and output, meal consumption, height and weight, blood glucose testing/monitoring, patient transport, and documentation of O2 and other treatments.
• Participates in quality and patient satisfaction initiatives including bedside shift report, hourly rounding promoting safety, hand washing, isolation protocols, and maintaining a clean environment.
• Accurately documents vital signs, weights, I&O, restraints, specimen collection, and all other treatments; report changes to nursing staff.
• Participates in unit activity such as supply stocking and equipment/appliance cleaning, checks and retrieval.
• Performs other duties as assigned or required.

Education
