Job summary

Allegheny Health Network is seeking a nursing assistant to provide direct patient care and assist with unit coordination in an inpatient setting. You will perform basic nursing tasks for stable patients, document in the EMR, and support the care team under RN supervision.

The role requires adherence to hospital policies, clinical asepsis, and effective communication. Training and orientation are included to ensure safe patient care and timely task completion.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Ability to read, write and follow oral and written instructions.
• Ability to perform basic mathematics.
• Basic computer skills.
• Attends 2 weeks of training
• Prefer Acute care experience in last 3 years
• Enrolled in ASN or BSN program; preference given to those in nursing programs

Responsibilities

• Provides, obtains or performs and documents direct patient care and activities such as activities of daily living, vital signs, ambulation, specimen collection, intake and output, meal consumption, height and weight, blood glucose testing/monitoring.
• Participates in quality and patient satisfaction initiatives such as bedside shift report, hourly rounding, falls prevention, hand washing and isolation protocols.
• Documents vital signs, weights, intake/output, restraints, specimen collection and treatments; reports changes to nursing staff.
• Participates in unit activities such as supply stocking and equipment cleaning.
