Job summary

Allegheny Health Network is seeking a nursing assistant to provide direct patient care and assist with non-direct unit coordination. The role supports RNs in caring for stable and acutely ill patients, maintaining medical asepsis, and documenting care in the EMR.

The incumbent will follow hospital policies, participate in shifts and handoffs, and help with admissions, discharges, and transfers within the inpatient unit.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Ability to read, write and follow oral and written instructions.
• Basic computer skills required.
• Two weeks of training may be required.
• ASN or BSN in progress preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides and documents direct patient care and activities (ADLs, vital signs, ambulation, specimen collection, I&O).
• Participates in quality and patient satisfaction initiatives (bedside shift report, hourly rounding).
• Accurately documents vital signs, weights, I&O, restraints, specimens and treatments.
• Participates in unit activities (supply stocking, equipment cleaning).
• Performs other duties as assigned or required.
