Job summary

UnityPoint Health is seeking a Patient Care Technician to provide hands-on patient care and comfort under supervision. The role supports clinical procedures, observes patient status, and documents care while maintaining infection prevention and safety standards.

The PCT will assist with ADLs, monitor vitals, and communicate changes to nurses or supervisors, contributing to safe, compassionate care in a collaborative team environment.

Qualifications

• Reads, writes and speaks fluent English.
• BCLS certification within 180 days of employment.
• Basic computer skills and familiarity with standard equipment.

Responsibilities

• Assists patients with tasks they are unable to do for themselves (ADLs, feeding, grooming, mobility).
• Monitors patient health via vital signs and safety rounds and reports to the nurse.
• Observes changes in patient condition and communicates status to supervisor or nurse.
• Completes documentation to ensure accurate legal records of care.
• Follows infection prevention measures.
• Assists team with stock and supply for patient care.
• Maintains safe, clean patient rooms and work areas.
• Responds to patient calls promptly and assists with paperwork as needed.
