Job summary

UPMC is seeking a Patient Care Technician to assist with patient procedures and daily living activities, including physical, respiratory, and cardiopulmonary therapies. Responsibilities include documenting care, monitoring vital signs, and supporting the health care team under RN supervision.

The role requires completion of UPMC PCT training, potential phlebotomy and EKG competencies, and CPR per AHA standards with ACLS preferred. High school diploma or GED is mandatory.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• 1 year of healthcare experience OR 6 months as UPMC Nursing Assistant/CNA with PCT competency within 120 days, or enrollment in a health sciences program with at least one clinical rotation.
• Completion of UPMC PCT class and eRecord training; EMT/Paramedic preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care, assist with procedures and activities of daily living.
• Assist with physical, respiratory and cardiopulmonary therapies; report changes to RN.
• Perform UPMC nursing core assistant tasks: check blood glucose, weights, vital signs, I&O, specimen collection, Foley care; assist with at least four advanced tasks as needed.
