Job summary

Northwestern Medicine in Lake Forest, IL, is seeking a Patient Care Tech to support RNs and physicians, performing clinical tasks and ensuring patient comfort and safety. Responsibilities include collecting specimens, EKGs, catheter care, bladder scans, POC testing, patient ambulation, and hourly rounding, with strict adherence to care plans.

Requires high school diploma, completion of an accredited CNA program or nursing student who has completed one clinical rotation, and BLS certification;

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Completion of an accredited CNA program or nursing student who has completed one clinical rotation.
• BLS certification through American Heart Association.

Responsibilities

• Collects, labels and transports specimens as assigned.
• Obtains 12 lead EKGs.
• Discontinues Saline Locks and indwelling urinary catheters.
• Discontinues Telemetry Monitoring packs.
• Performs bladder scans and point-of-care testing as appropriate.
• Assists patients with personal hygiene and nutritional needs.
• Performs hourly patient rounding with the RN.
• Documents patient care data as directed.
• Assists with patient ambulation and positioning.
