Job summary

Hackensack Meridian Health is seeking a Patient Care Technician/Apprentice to provide direct patient care, assist with assessments, and support the care team in a fast-paced hospital setting. The role emphasizes safety, accuracy in specimen collection, and collaboration with nursing staff.

The position requires a High School diploma or GED and completion of an approved PCT/CNA/MA program or equivalent background.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Completion of one of the following programs: CNA, Medical Assistant or PCT, or Nursing Assistant related program; or equivalent medical background.
• Ability to learn quickly and adapt to changing patient needs; strong accountability and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care based on age, safety and education needs.
• Communicate with patients, nursing staff and health care team regarding status and care.
• Perform venipuncture and collect specimens with proper labeling and handling.
• Assist with admission, assessment, and discharge planning to ensure safe transitions.
