Job summary

Providence Portland Medical Center in Portland, Oregon, is seeking a full-time Patient Care Technician for day shifts (3 x 12-hour shifts, 7:00 am–7:30 pm) with rotating weekends and holidays. The role includes 1:1 patient observation, hygiene care, vital signs, and assistance with feeding under supervision of the bedside RN and charge nurse.

Requirements include National Provider BLS (American Heart Association) at hire, preferred 6 months healthcare experience, and completion of medical

Qualifications

• National Provider BLS - American Heart Association required upon hire.
• 6 months of health care experience preferred/probable.
• Coursework in Medical Terminology or equivalent education/experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 patient observation for safety and device protection.
• Assist with hygiene care, feeding, and mobility (walking/positioning).
• Monitor vital signs and basic patient assessments.
• Support BLS interventions as needed and communicate with RN/Charge Nurse.

Job description

Patient Care Technician - Providence Portland Medical Center in Portland, Oregon. This is a full time, day shift opening (3, 12 hour shifts from 7am-7:30pm with rotating weekends and holidays).

• PCT duties (after on-the-job training):
• 1:1 patient observation for suicide prevention, elopement, or prevention of medical device dislodgement
• Hygiene care: bathing, brushing teeth, toileting, urinary and fecal incontinence care
• Bladder scanning
• Walking patients
• Vital Signs (temperature, blood pressure, heart rate, respiratory rate, oxygen saturation measurements)
• Assistant with feeding
• Participate in Basic Life Saving (BLS) interventions

Under direct supervision this position is accountable to the bedside RN and charge nurse to facilitate a safe and secure environment for the patient, family and providers in the department in completion of the duties assigned to them for the shift and maintaining clear communication between the needs of the patient through the RN and Charge Nurse. These activities focus on maintaining a safe, hazard free, clean environment which facilitates patient focused care.

Required Qualifications:

• Upon hire: National Provider BLS - American Heart Association

Preferred Qualifications:

• Coursework/Training and Medical Terminology Course Or equivalent educ/experience
• Successful completion of hospital Medical terminology test within 90 days of hire.
• 6 months of Health care experience.
