Job summary

Johnston-Willis Hospital is seeking a Patient Care Technician (PCT) to support Registered Nurses and ensure a safe, welcoming environment for patients. You will assist with daily needs, monitor conditions with RNs, and help carry out care plans in a fast-paced hospital setting.

This role requires compassion, teamwork, and attention to detail to restore comfort and dignity for patients while contributing to high-quality care across the unit.

Qualifications

• CNA certification in Virginia through the Board of Health Professions preferred; or completed Fundamentals of Nursing course through an accredited school of nursing.
• Previous acute patient care experience in a healthcare facility is preferred.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Responsibilities

• Assisting with patient preparation, mobility, transfers, and comfort to support smooth care and recovery.
• Providing non-medicated care such as dressing changes, skin protection, and use of supportive devices.
• Keeping patient areas and common spaces clean, organized, and stocked to maintain safety and efficiency.
• Managing supplies, equipment, and logs to support infection control and team readiness.
• Communicating kindly with patients, families, and the care team to support safety and quality.

Education

CNA certification or Fundamentals of Nursing course
