Job summary

Northwestern Medicine seeks a Patient Care Technician-Float to join our Kishwaukee and Valley West hospital teams. This full-time day shift role supports RNs by performing basic nursing tasks, assisting with daily living activities, and ensuring patient comfort and safety in a fast-paced environment.

You will monitor vital signs, assist with hygiene, document care, and coordinate with multiple departments to maintain smooth unit operations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Credentialed CNA/CMA/EMT or nursing student with clinical rotation preferred.
• Current CPR–BLS certification required.

Responsibilities

• Perform basic nursing care activities under RN supervision, including vitals.
• Assist with personal care, bathing, grooming and eating.
• Report changes in patient conditions to nursing staff.
• Maintain clean and orderly patient rooms and equipment.
• Prioritize tasks and manage unit workflow with the RN and charge staff.
• Answer call bells and communicate with patients and families professionally.
