Job summary

UnityPoint Health is hiring a Patient Care Technician in West Des Moines, IA for an 11a-11p shift with 32 hours per week and every 3rd weekend and holiday rotation. Qualifications

• Must have CN A or EMT-B certification.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or able to obtain within three months from date of hire.
• Must be 18 years old or older.
• Valid driver's license when driving any vehicle for work-related reasons.

Responsibilities

• PCT performs patient care and treatments under supervision of a RN.
• Provides and documents care including activities of daily living, mobility, specimen collection and respiratory support activities as directed by the RN.
• Possess the ability to lift, move, position and transport patients.
• Demonstrates the ability to meet the department work schedule.
• Demonstrates initiative to improve quality of care, patient and employee safety, and customer service.

Under the direction of a licensed professional, the Patient Care Technician delivers hands‑on patient care and comfort, assists with clinical procedures and technical tasks, and accurately observes, reports, and documents patient status. The role supports safe, efficient unit operations by focusing on personal care, mobility, nutrition, hydration, elimination, and prevention of complications, while preparing patients and environments for procedures. Collaborating with the interdisciplinary team, the PCT provides compassionate, patient- and family-centered support across diverse care settings to promote quality outcomes and a positive experience.
