UPMC Mercy is searching for a full-time Patient Care Technician to support our Emergency Department! This position will work 3 rotating 12-hour shifts each week with 7am and 7pm start times. When working an overnight shift, you'll earn an extra $1.60 more per hour! If you have at least 1 year of experience working with patient care in a hospital setting/EMT or 1 completed clinical rotation in nursing school, we welcome you to join our team and grow your career with us.
UPMC Mercy’s Emergency Department is a state-of-the-art 36-bed Level I trauma and burn center, and a primary cardiac and stroke center, providing emergency care to over 68,000 people annually. The ED handles critically ill or injured patients with a range of medical-surgical needs, obstetrical patients, psychiatric cases, and individuals seeking drug and alcohol services. Patient volume and acuity are variable, requiring critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
The title and starting pay rate may vary based on experience. Salary range and responsibilities shown are for a Patient Care Technician-Senior, requiring at least 2 years of experience.
The Nursing Assistant and Patient Care Technician provide routine patient care and support department services following policies and procedures. Responsibilities include ADLs, point of care testing, vital signs, telemetry, urine collection, applying dressings, EKG, bladder scans, and specimen collections. All competencies must be achieved.
