UChicago Medicine AdventHealth is seeking a Patient Care Technician to support nursing staff with patient care tasks during night shifts in Glendale Heights, IL. This role requires attention to patient safety, accurate documentation, and effective communication with the healthcare team.

Educational requirement: High School Grad or Equivalent; preferred 1+ PCT experience with CPR/BLS, CPCT/A or CNA or EMT certification. Sign-on bonus up to $5,000 is offered for eligible applicants.

Formación

• Basic Life Support (BLS) CPR required.
• CPCT/A, CNA or EMT certification required or preferred.
• 1+ PCT experience preferred.
• Experience with bedside patient care in acute settings preferred.

• Aids with movement and placement of patients.
• Assists patients with personal care and activities of daily living.
• Reports findings to nursing staff.
• Documents records accurately and timely.

• Ensures proper functioning of medical equipment.
• Communicates with patients, families, and healthcare team.
• Follows safety and infection control protocols.
• Participates in training and development.
• Other duties as assigned.

Job Description

• Schedule: 40 hours/week; Nights 7:00pm - 3:30am, w/rotating weekends and holidays
• Up to a $5,000 sign on bonus for Eligible Applicants

• Supports nursing staff with patient care tasks.
• Maintains clean and orderly patient rooms.
• Aids with movement and placement of patients.
• Assists patients with personal care and activities of daily living.
• Reports findings or changes in physical, mental, and emotional conditions to nursing staff.
• Documents necessary records accurately and timely.
• Monitors and reports patient conditions.
• Ensures proper functioning and maintenance of medical equipment.
• Communicates effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
• Follows safety and infection control protocols.
• Participates in training and development activities.

Education

• High School Grad or Equiv [Required]

Work Experience

• 1+ applicable PCT experience [Preferred]
• Previous bedside patient care in an acute care unit, unit secretary, monitor technician, or equivalent medical experience [Preferred]

Licenses and Certifications

• Basic Life Support - CPR Cert (BLS) [Required
• Certified Patient Care Technician/Assistant (CPCT/A) [Required] OR
• Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) [Required]OR
• Emergency Medical Tech Cert (EMT) [Required]
