Job summary

UChicago Medicine AdventHealth in La Grange, IL is seeking a Part-time Patient Care Technician to join our team. You will assist in delivering patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse, contribute to a safe environment, and participate in coordinating patient needs.

The role requires a high school diploma and CPR/BLS, along with CNA/CPCT/A or similar certification. Schedule features 24 hours per week with day shifts; benefits from Day One and opportunities for growth.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• BLS CPR certification required.
• CNA/CPCT/A/NCPCT/PCT-C/EMT certification required.

Responsibilities

• Performs treatments according to policy and procedure, providing patient care appropriate to age, mobility, acuity, and culture.
• Assists in identifying patient needs and reporting abnormalities to the RN.
• Assists in obtaining nursing history and documenting procedures per department policy.
• Maintains a clean and safe environment for patients and staff.
• Participates in teamwork and communicates effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team.

Job Description

• Schedule: 24 hours/week; Days 6:45am - 7:15pm, w/some rotating weekends and holidays
• Performs treatments according to policy and procedure, providing patient care appropriate to age, mobility, acuity, and culture.
• Functions appropriately in clinical emergencies.
• Participates in practice changes resulting from performance improvement activities and supports quality standards and initiatives.
• Follows prescribed isolation guidelines, demonstrates appropriate use of protective equipment, performs handwashing according to policy, and enforces safety regulations.
• Exhibits a desire to learn and upgrades skills continuously.
• Communicates effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
• Maintains a clean and safe environment for patients and staff.
• Assists in the delivery of patient care as a team member under the direction of a registered nurse.
• Documents and reports all procedures in accordance with department policy.
• Participates in obtaining a nursing history and reports abnormalities to the registered nurse.
• Assists in identifying patient needs
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Education

• High School Grad or Equiv [Required]

Work Experience

• 1+ applicable PCT experience [Preferred]
• Previous bedside patient care in an acute care unit, unit secretary, monitor technician, or equivalent medical experience [Preferred]

Licenses And Certifications

• Basic Life Support - CPR Cert (BLS) [Required]
• Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) [Required] OR NHA Certified Patient Care Technician/Assistant (CPCT/A) [Required] OR NCCT Patient Care Technician (NCPCT) [Required] OR AMCA Patient Care Technician Certification (PCT-C) [Required] OR Emergency Medical Tech Cert (EMT) [Required]
