Job summary

UPMC is seeking a Patient Care Technician (CNA) to support patient care by performing ADLs, vital signs, I&O, and basic procedures under nursing supervision. The role includes documentation, safety checks, and assisting with therapies as needed.

A current CNA credential is required, with EMT/Paramedic preference noted for some units. Candidates should communicate effectively with patients and the health care team and be able to respond to call lights and rapidly changing conditions.

Qualifications

• Must hold a current CNA credential and demonstrate competency in basic nursing assistant tasks.
• Strong communication with patients, families, and health care team.
• EMT or Paramedic training is a plus and may be preferred in some units.

Responsibilities

• Provide routine patient care including ADLs, vital signs, intake/output, and comfort measures.
• Assist with clinical procedures under RN/physician direction and ensure patient safety.
• Document care and communicate changes in status per hospital policy.
