Job summary

Prisma Health is seeking a Nursing Assistant/Patient Care Technician for day shift at Baptist Hospital in Columbia, SC. The role supports registered nurses by providing routine assistive care to meet basic patient needs and ensuring comfort and safety for patients in Med - Surg.

Responsibilities include hygiene assistance, feeding support, mobility aid, elimination needs, vital signs, and accurate documentation.

Qualifications

• Education - Completion of a Nursing Assistant, Patient Care Tech, Medical Assistant or Nursing Fundamentals course. High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Experience - Previous nursing assistant, medical assistant or related experience preferred; one year hospital clerical experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients with personal hygiene (bathing, hair care, brushing teeth), and support with meals and nutrition.
• Assist with ambulation and fall prevention under RN direction.
• Monitor inputs/outputs and assist with bathroom needs (bedside commode, bedpan, urinal).
• Document vital signs (BP, pulse, temp, oxygenation) and report abnormal values to RN.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
