Job summary

Prisma Health Baptist Hospital in Columbia is seeking a Nursing Assistant/Patient Care Tech to support the Registered Nurse in delivering compassionate patient care. You will assist with hygiene, nutrition, mobility, elimination, and daily monitoring to ensure comfort and safety.

The role requires completion of a Nursing Assistant or related program and a HS diploma; prior hospital clerical experience is preferred, and training for a unit secretary will be provided within 90 days of hire.

Qualifications

• Education: Nursing Assistant/Patient Care Tech/Medical Assistant or Nursing Fundamentals course; HS diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Experience: Prior nursing assistant or medical assistant work; 1 year hospital clerical experience preferred.
• Certifications: Prisma Health unit secretary course training within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients with personal hygiene tasks such as bathing, hair, teeth, and washing hands.
• Assist with feeding, meal trays, and hydration.
• Assist with ambulation and fall prevention under RN guidance.
• Support elimination needs and monitor inputs/outputs.
• Record vital signs and report abnormal results to the nurse.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
