Job summary

UMass Memorial Health in Central Massachusetts is seeking Patient Care Technicians to support RN-driven care. You will monitor patients, report observations, maintain a safe environment and assist with daily living activities and mobility.

Requirements include high school diploma or GED, Basic Life Support within 30 days, English literacy, basic computer skills, and strong communication. PCA II requires prior PCA I experience (800 hours) and additional clinical exposure.

Qualifications

  • High school education or GED required.
  • BLS certification within 30 days of employment.
  • English literacy with clear communication; basic computer skills; medical terminology knowledge.
  • PCA II requires 800 hours and at least 6 months as PCA I.

Responsibilities

  • Provides clear, timely communication to the RN regarding observations and changes seen in patients.
  • Provides constant observation of high-risk patients as assigned by the Resource Nurse or designee.
  • Participates in the development and maintenance of a safe environment; assists with restraints per training when needed.
  • Assists patient with daily living activities such as personal hygiene, ambulating, meals and nourishment.
  • Assists in moving, lifting, positioning, and transporting patients with proper safety techniques.
