Job description

Join to apply for the Patient Care Technician role at DaVita Kidney Care

DaVita is seeking a Patient Care Technician who is looking to give life in an outpatient dialysis center. You can make an exceptional difference in the lives of our patients and their families dealing with end-stage renal failure or chronic kidney disease. Do you desire to deliver care in an empathetic, compassionate way - the way you'd want your own care to be?

Joining DaVita as a Patient Care Technician (PCT) is an exciting opportunity to jump start your career in the healthcare industry! With paid, extensive training, you will gain the skills needed to care for our patients and build a network of other healthcare professionals across your region. After training, you will join a team of care professionals – including nurses, dietitians, social workers, and other PCTs – to care for our patients. It's more than a job; it's a career based on passion and purpose.

DaVita – which means "giving life" in Italian – is committed to providing quality service to patients, partners, and teammates. Our mission is to be the Provider, Partner, and Employer of Choice.

Our PCTs also find DaVita professionally fulfilling. To support your growth, we offer clear paths to higher responsibility and compensation through our Clinical Ladders program. Through DaVita's Bridge to your Dreams program, teammates with at least six months in their role and in good standing are eligible for tuition assistance to pursue their goal of becoming a DaVita RN and obtaining an Associate Degree in Nursing. We also provide training to become a Facility Administrator and Regional Operations Director. Your success is driven by your performance and desire.

Some details about this position:

  1. No dialysis experience required.
  2. Training may occur in a facility or training clinic other than your assigned home clinic.
  3. Potential to float to various clinics during and after training.
  4. Must have a flexible schedule and be able to work mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

What you can expect:

  1. Direct Patient Care: Spend most of your day in one-on-one patient care to provide safe, comfortable, and hygienic dialysis treatment.
  2. Care for multiple patients.
  3. Technician Duties: Monitor patients before, during, and after dialysis, including measuring and recording stats, observing patients, and setting up hemodialysis machines. Note: exposure to blood and needles.
  4. Build long-term relationships with patients suffering from end-stage renal disease, receiving treatment approximately 3 times/week. Educate patients on kidney dialysis-related topics.
  5. Work within a team of clinicians including technicians, nurses, dietitians, social workers, and leadership, under the supervision of an RN.

What we'll provide:

  1. Comprehensive benefits: Medical, dental, vision, 401(k) match, paid time off, PTO cash out.
  2. Support for you and your family: Family resources, EAP counseling, Headspace access, backup child and elder care, maternity/paternity leave, pet insurance, and more.
  3. Paid training.

Requirements:

  1. Desire to care for others in the healthcare field.
  2. High school diploma or equivalent.
  3. Comfort working around blood and needles.
  4. Ability to mix acid or bicarb.
  5. Physical and mental stamina for long hours (including some 12+ hour shifts) on your feet; wear comfortable shoes.
  6. Willingness to train and work across multiple clinics within the territory.
  7. Healthcare experience (e.g., BONENT Certified, CHT, CNA, CMA, Phlebotomy) is a plus.

DaVita is a clinical leader with high standards in CMS performance programs. We expect our teammates to commit to improving patient health through clinical goals and quality initiatives.
