Sentara Princess Anne Hospital in Virginia Beach is seeking a Patient Care Technician (PCT) for a full-time Day shift. The PCT provides patient care, assists with daily living activities, and performs procedures including phlebotomy, EKG testing, and specimen collection under the direction of an RN.

Qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent and relevant certification programs (CNA/NCMA/NCPCT or RN/LPN/RT/PT clinical experience). AHA BLS is required within 90 days of hire.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care and assist with activities of daily living.
• Monitor and document vital signs and patient condition.
• Perform phlebotomy, point of care testing, EKG testing, and specimen collection.
• Remove peripheral IVs as needed and assist with Foley catheter procedures.
• Follow safety practices and report changes to the RN or medical staff.

Sentara Princess Anne Hospitalis hiring a Patient Care Technician (PCT). Full Time, Day shift
Shift: Days

The Patient Care Technician (PCT) provides patient care, supports independent and dependent activities of daily living, vital signs, mobility and ambulation, phlebotomy, point of care testing, EKG testing, peripheral IV removal, specimen collection, and foley catheter insertion and removal, and complies with patient safety practices under the direction of the professional RN nurse. Observes patients' physical, mental, and emotional conditions and documents in a timely and accurate manner while reporting any change to the nurse or medical staff.

Qualifications

Education

• HS Diploma or Equivalent OR
• One of the following programs is acceptable for education:
• Sentara Care Partner Certification Program, or
• Successful completion of the Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), or
• National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA), or
• National Patient Care Technician (NCPCT), or
• Completion of US Navy Hospital Corps School, or
• Emergency Services to include EMR, EMS, EMT, AEMT and Paramedic, or
• Current student enrolled in a clinical program (beyond prerequisites) having completed at least one semester of RN, LPN, RT or PT, or
• Current work experience within last three years as a PCT or Nursing Assistant.

Certification/Licensure:

• AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 90 days of hire.

Experience:

• One year of health care experience (Preferred).
