Sentara Leigh Hospital in Norfolk, VA is hiring a Patient Care Technician (PCT) for the Observation/Transition Unit. This is a full-time night shift (3rd shift).

The 21-bed unit cares for patients under short observation, 24-48 hours, with a team-oriented approach. Under RN direction, the PCT provides patient care, vital signs, mobility assistance, phlebotomy, point-of-care testing, EKG testing, and specimen collection.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or equivalent is required.
• AHA BLS certification within 90 days of hire.
• One year of health care experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care and assist with activities of daily living.
• Monitor vital signs and report changes to RN.
• Support mobility, ambulation, and safety.
• Perform phlebotomy, point-of-care testing, and specimen collection as directed.
• Assist with EKG testing and IV removal as needed.
• Maintain accurate documentation according to policy.

We are seeking new grads or experienced candidates to join this team-oriented unit!The Patient Care Technician (PCT) provides patient care, supports independent and dependent activities of daily living, vital signs, mobility and ambulation, phlebotomy, point of care testing, EKG testing, peripheral IV removal, specimen collection, and foley catheter insertion and removal, and complies with patient safety practices under the direction of the professional RN nurse.
