Job summary

Sentara Norfolk General Hospital in Norfolk, VA is seeking a Patient Care Technician for the Medicine Unit. The role supports patient care, daily living activities, vital signs, mobility, phlebotomy, EKG, and specimen collection under RN supervision.

Minimum high school diploma or equivalent; CNA/NCMA/NCPCT or Navy Hospital Corps School certs accepted. BLS within 90 days. Night and rotating shifts available in a 525-bed facility with comprehensive services.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required; CNA/NCMA/NCPCT or Navy Hospital Corps School certs listed.
• BLS certification within 90 days of hire.
• One year of health care experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care and assist with activities of daily living.
• Monitor vital signs, mobility, and ambulation; report changes to RN.
• Perform phlebotomy, point-of-care testing, EKG, and specimen collection.
• Assist with Foley catheter insertion/removal and IV removal as directed.

We are looking for new or experienced candidates to join the team!The Patient Care Technician provides patient care, supports independent and dependent activities of daily living, vital signs, mobility and ambulation, phlebotomy, point of care testing, EKG testing, peripheral IV removal, specimen collection, and foley catheter insertion and removal, and complies with patient safety practices under the direction of the professional RN nurse.
