Job description

Joining DaVita as Patient Care Technician (PCT) offers an exciting opportunity to start a career in healthcare. With paid, extensive training, you'll develop skills to care for patients and connect with healthcare professionals across your region. After training, you'll join a team of care professionals—including nurses, dietitians, social workers, and other PCTs—to provide patient care. This role is driven by passion and purpose, not just employment.

Our PCTs find professional fulfillment at DaVita. We offer clear pathways for advancement to roles like PCT II or PCT III. Through DaVita's Bridge to your Dreams program, teammates in good standing for six months can receive tuition assistance to pursue becoming a DaVita RN and earning an Associate Degree in Nursing. We also provide training to become a Facility Administrator or a Regional Operations Director. Success depends on your performance and ambition.

No prior healthcare experience is required to apply for our PCT roles.

What you can expect:

1. Direct Patient Care: Spend most of your day providing safe, comfortable dialysis treatment to up to 4 patients at a time.
2. Technician Duties: Monitor patients before, during, and after dialysis, including measuring stats, observing patients, and setting up machines. Note: You will be exposed to blood and needles.
3. Continuous Improvement: We constantly seek ways to enhance processes for our patients and teammates.
4. Building Long-term Relationships: Develop relationships with patients suffering from end-stage renal disease, educating them on dialysis and related topics.
5. Teamwork: Collaborate with clinicians, including technicians, nurses, dietitians, social workers, and leadership, under RN supervision.
6. Schedule: Shifts may start as early as 4:30 am and vary based on patient needs, with details shared during the interview.

Additional Details:

• Training may occur in a facility or training clinic with other new teammates.
• During training, hours typically range from 32-40 hours per week.
• Placement at a home clinic may vary; floating to different clinics is possible during and after training.
• Flexibility to work mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays is required.

Minimum Requirements:

• Desire to care for others in healthcare.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Comfort working around blood and needles.
• Ability to mix acid or bicarb.
• Flexible schedule including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Physical and mental stamina for long hours on your feet.
• Willingness to train across multiple clinics.
• Healthcare certifications like BONENT, CHT, CNA, CMA, or Phlebotomy are a plus.
