Job summary

Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital is seeking a Patient Care Technician for the ICU. This full-time night shift (7P-7A) role involves direct patient care, basic monitoring, and assisting with daily living activities under RN supervision.

Required HS Diploma or GED with eligible certifications; one year of healthcare experience preferred. Compensation includes base pay with potential shift differentials and bonuses; comprehensive benefits are offered.

Qualifications

• Certification options include CNA/NCMA/NCPCT, Sentara Care Partner, US Navy Hospital Corps School, or active clinical student.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care and assist with activities of daily living.
• Monitor vital signs, mobility, and ambulation; document changes and report to nurse.
• Perform phlebotomy, point-of-care testing, EKG testing, IV removal, specimen collection and Foley catheter management as directed.
• Ensure patient safety and comfort under RN supervision; document timely observations.

Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital is hiring a Patient Care Technician for the Intensive Care Unit - ICU

Full Time Nights 7P-7A

The Patient Care Technician provides patient care, support independent and dependent activities of daily living, vital signs, mobility and ambulation, phlebotomy, point of care testing, EKG testing, peripheral IV removal, specimen collection, and foley catheter insertion and removal, and comply with patient safety practices under the direction of the professional RN nurse. Observe patients’ physical, mental, and emotional conditions and document in a timely and accurate manner while reporting any change to the nurse or medical staff. Basic Life Support (BLS) within 90 days of hire.

HS Diploma or Equivalent GED (Required)

Certification/Licensure

One of the following programs is acceptable for education: Graduate of Sentara Care Partner Certification Program, successful completion of the Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA), National Patient Care Technician (NCPCT), completion of US Navy Hospital Corps School, Emergency Services to include EMR, EMS, EMT, AEMT and Paramedic, or current student enrolled in a clinical program having completed at least one semester of a (RN, LPN, RT or PT) or current work experience within last three years as a PCT or Nursing Assistant.

Experience

One year previous healthcare experience Preferred

We provide market-competitive compensation packages, inclusive of base pay, incentives, and benefits. The base pay range for full-time employment is $18.93 - $27.41 hourly. Additional compensation may be available for this role, such as shift differentials, on-call pay, overtime, shift premiums, extra-shift incentives, or bonus opportunities.
