Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital in Charlottesville, VA is hiring a Patient Care Technician (PCT) for the IMCU Department. This is a full-time Night shift (12-hour) position from 7 PM to 7 AM, with three 12-hour shifts and rotating weekends.

The PCT provides patient care, assists with daily living activities, monitors vitals, performs phlebotomy and EKG testing, and supports the nursing team under RN direction.

Qualifications

• HS grad or equivalent required.
• CNA, NCPCT, or related certification preferred.
• AHA BLS certification within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care and assist with activities of daily living.
• Monitor vital signs and document changes.
• Perform phlebotomy, specimen collection, EKG testing and point-of-care testing.
• Assist with urinary catheter insertion/removal and IV removal.
• Observe patients and report changes to the RN.

This is a full-time Night shift (12-hr shift) position in Charlottesville, VA.Hours: 7PM to 7AM- Three 12-hour shifts (36-hours per week), with rotating weekends.Department/Position Overview:Intermediate Care Unit - Cornell 1: The Telemetry/Stroke Unit at Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital provides care for patients with cardiac conditions including heart failure, cardiac rhythm disturbances, newly implanted permanent pacemakers and defibrillators, post- coronary interventions, post-ablation, myocardial infarctions. Cornell 1 also cares for TIA, acute stroke, and post procedural neuro cases that stepdown from ICU. This 30-bed unit sees a ratio of 1:5 with mixed patient acuity levels and is well supported with additional patient care technicians, educators, and a strong leadership team.Sentara Martha Jefferson has under a 12.6% RN Turnover ratePatient Satisfaction scores are highest in the system at Martha JeffersonSentara Martha Jefferson Foundation education assistance program up to $32,500Free Parking at Sentara Martha JeffersonThe Patient Care Technician provides patient care, support independent and dependent activities of daily living, vital signs, mobility and ambulation, phlebotomy, point of care testing, EKG testing, peripheral IV removal, specimen collection, and foley catheter insertion and removal, and comply with patient safety practices under the direction of the professional RN nurse.
