Job summary

Beaufort Memorial Hospital is expanding access to high-quality, community-based healthcare in southern Beaufort County. The Patient Care Technician role supports direct patient care for adults and pediatric patients under a Registered Nurse, in the new Bluffton Community Hospital.

This position involves vital signs, glucose testing, EKG work, phlebotomy, and assistance with daily living activities, admissions, and transports, while upholding safety and privacy standards.

Qualifications

• High School graduate or equivalent with ability to read, write and comprehend medical terminology.
• One or more years of acute care hospital experience preferred.
• BLS certification and completion of Beaufort Memorial PATH program as appropriate.

Responsibilities

• Take and record vital signs and monitor telemetry.
• Perform blood glucose measurements and venipuncture as needed.
• Assist with bathing, dressing, feeding, ambulation and activities of daily living.
• Assist admissions, transfers, discharges and transportation.
• Support nurses with procedures while maintaining patient comfort and privacy.
• Operate and maintain EKG equipment and handle related testing.
• Collect and transport blood samples for testing.
