Job summary

Texas Health Denton is seeking a Patient Care Tech (PCT) for the General Surgical Unit. This full-time day shift role provides patient care under nursing supervision, including data collection, admissions/discharges, and daily living activities while maintaining safety and comfort.

The position emphasizes teamwork, culturally sensitive care, accurate documentation, and proactive patient advocacy within a fast-paced hospital environment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Current TX CNA or PCT training with NHA/NAHP/NCCT or THR approved program.
• Current EMT for TX.
• Military training equivalent (EMT-B) or.
• 1 year of applicable PCT experience in lieu of an active certification.
• Nursing student who has completed fundamentals or foreign nurse degree program.

Responsibilities

• Provides assistance to patient according to plan of care.
• Collects patient data, identifies and reports significant findings to nurse.
• Assists in admission/transfer/discharge.
• Provides and Revises activities of daily living based on patient/family preferences.
• Performs technical procedures safely and proficiently.
• Takes action to reduce or eliminate patient risk.
• Enters orders into computer or manual system.
• Documents accurately and appropriately.
• Collaborates with nurse to adapt care to patient population.
• Incorporates cultural/religious needs and beliefs into care delivery.
• Keeps patient environment clean and maintained.
• Anticipates patient/family needs and rounds as appropriate.
