Job summary

Trinity Health Livonia Campus is seeking a compassionate Patient Care Technician to provide direct patient care on the Stroke Progressive Care Unit under RN supervision.

Responsibilities include assisting with ADLs, maintaining a clean and safe patient environment, and accurately recording patient data. Shifts run 7:00 am–7:00 pm with part-time status and eligible benefits starting day one; every other weekend and 3 holidays per year apply to eligible staff.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Preferred minimum of one year of direct patient care experience or completion of CENA, PCT, MA, or EMT course.
• Student nurses must have completed their nursing fundamentals class of a BSN program.

Responsibilities

• Performs nursing care as delegated by the RN to meet treatment goals.
• Assist patient in completing ADLs.
• Demonstrates sterile or aseptic technique as appropriate when performing delegated activities.
• Establishes and maintains a safe, clean patient care environment for patient and family wellbeing.
• Records patient information and required data in appropriate areas for documentation and charging.

Position Purpose

Under the direction of a registered nurse, the patient care technician is responsible for direct patient care considering age specific, developmental, cultural and spiritual needs. Demonstrates unit/area-designated competencies. Assists in establishing and maintaining a patient care environment that is clean, safe and conducive to patient/family well being including concepts of relationship based care.

Shifts Available: 7:00 am – 7:00 pm

Status available: Full-time

Every Other Weekend and 3 Holidays per year required for Full-time and Part-time team members.

Required Qualifications:

Education

• High school diploma or GED.

Experience

• Preferred minimum of one year of previous direct care experience (acute or long term) OR successful completion of CENA, PCT, MA, or EMT course OR Student nurses must have completed their nursing fundamentals class of a BSN program.
