Job summary

Johns Hopkins All Children's Hospital in St. Petersburg, FL, is seeking a Patient Care Technician for the SECU unit. The role performs direct patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse and supports pediatric pre- and post-operative care in a busy surgical unit.

The schedule is day shift, 36 hours per week, full-time, with set shifts Thursday through Saturday. A High School diploma and at least one year of clinical experience or completion of an intern program are required; CNA or

Position Summary

The Patient Care Technician (PCT) performs direct patient care tasks under the direction of the Registered Nurse and performs various tasks as competency documentation designates. Work occasionally requires internal contacts outside the work group to exchange relevant information. Communication with external contacts involves providing or giving factual information.

The Surgical Extended Care Unit (SECU) is specially designed for children who need surgical observation pre- and post-surgery. The unit provides the parent/caregiver with the education and tools needed to be the best possible caregiver for the child and creates a partnership among the parent, physicians and nursing staff.

The SECU is also for patients admitted to the hospital through our Emergency Center who have experienced a trauma and need to be monitored.

Education/Experience

• High School Diploma or High School Equivalency Diploma.
• One year of clinical experience is required or successful completion of the intern program

• Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification, Medical Assistant (MA) certification, or one of the

• A nursing student or LPN who has completed fundamental nursing skills coursework
• An Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification
• BLS certification provided by AHA

Salary Range

Minimum 17.37/hour - Maximum 26.91/hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility. In cases where the range is displayed as a $0 amount, salary discussions will occur during candidate screening calls, before any subsequent compensation discussion is held between the candidate and any hiring authority.
