Job summary

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Check vital signs (temp, pulse, respiration, BP).
• Assist patients with ADLs and mobility.
• Collect samples as needed and report changes to a nurse.
• Document and communicate patient status to the care team.
• Support the care team within the ICU under supervision.

Position: Patient Care TechDepartment: Heart and Vascular ICUShift: 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM, 36 Hours a week, 72 hours per pay periodFacility: Miami Valley HospitalThey collaborate with nurses and doctors to provide personalized patient care. They can:Check vital signs, such as temperature, heartbeat, and breathing.Help patients move around, get dressed, and eat.Collect samples like urine.Report any changes in a patient's condition to a nurse.Walks, ADLs, Weighing Patients; VitalsThe PCT works under a nurse's supervision, who ensures they perform tasks safely and correctly. Sometimes, the PCT may also be called a Patient Care Technician/Unit Clerk (PCT/HUC).So, even though PCTs don't wear capes, they are essential members of the healthcare team who help patients feel better and recover their health.Qualifications - ExternalQualificationsEducation: You'll need a high school diploma or GED.Training: You'll need to get a BLS CPR certificate. If you don’t already have it, they can teach you how to do CPR at your orientation, too (so you don't need to do it beforehand).Experience: Successful completion of one of the following:Completion of previous STNA or CNA training or Patient Care Technician/Assistant training.Direct patient care experience within the last five years: Performing fundamental skills of vital signs (temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure) & direct patient care activities ie. Bathing, turning/positioning, toiletingCurrently enrolled in nursing school and have completed at least one clinical rotation.*Special Consideration: If the candidate has previous direct patient care experience, they may be excused from fundamental training (BCOP) upon completion of successful skills validation.
