Job summary

Premier Health's Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton, OH, is seeking a Patient Care Tech for the Heart and Vascular ICU. The role supports nurses with vital signs, mobility, and daily activities, with shifts 7:00 AM–7:00 PM, 36 hours weekly across two pay periods.

You will perform vital signs, patient assistance, and sample collection while reporting changes to the supervising nurse. Prior CNA/PCT training or clinical rotation is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• BLS CPR certificate required or provided during orientation.
• Experience in direct patient care or CNA/PCT training is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Check vital signs (temperature, pulse, respiration, BP).
• Assist patients with mobility, dressing, and meals.
• Collect samples (e.g., urine) as directed.
• Report changes in patient condition to nurse.
• Assist with ADLs and basic patient care tasks.
• Maintain patient safety under nurse supervision.

They can:* **Check vital signs, such as temperature, heartbeat, and breathing.*** **Help patients move around, get dressed, and eat.*** **Collect samples like urine.*** **Report any changes in a patient's condition to a nurse.*** **Walks, ADLs, Weighing Patients; Vitals**The PCT works under a nurse's supervision, who ensures they perform tasks safely and correctly. Sometimes, the PCT may also be called a Patient Care Technician/Unit Clerk (PCT/HUC).So, even though PCTs don't wear capes, they are essential members of the healthcare team who help patients feel better and recover their health.**Qualifications****Education:** You'll need a high school diploma or GED. **Training:** You'll need to get a **BLS CPR certificate**. If you don’t already have it, they can teach you how to do CPR at your orientation, too (so you don't need to do it beforehand).**Experience:** Successful completion of **one** of the following:1. Completion of previous STNA or CNA training or Patient Care Technician/Assistant training.2. Direct patient care experience within the last five years: Performing fundamental skills of vital signs (temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure) & direct patient care activities ie. Bathing, turning/positioning, toileting3. Currently enrolled in nursing school and have completed at least one clinical rotation. \\*Special Consideration: If the candidate has previous direct patient care experience, they may be excused from fundamental training (BCOP) upon completion of successful skills validation.
