Job summary

Good Samaritan Medical Center in Palm Beach County is seeking a Patient Care Technician to support RNs/LP Ns and assist with unit secretary duties. You will ensure personal care needs are met and help manage orders, patient data, and communications.

Qualified candidates have a high school diploma, CNA/EMT certification, BLS, CPI training within 90 days, and the ability to work in a fast-paced hospital environment. This is a per diem day shift role with benefits available.

Qualifications

• Minimum: High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Previous Patient Care Technician experience preferred.
• CNA or EMT certification and completion of accredited nursing program.
• Current American Heart Association BLS Certification.
• CPI certification within 90 days from hire date.

Responsibilities

• Assist the RN or LPN in patient care and personal care needs.
• Function as unit secretary: transcribe and enter physician orders, retrieve patient information, maintain records, answer phones, relay messages.
• Assist patients, family, physicians, visitors and staff professionally and courteously.
• Follow Infection Control procedures at all times.
• Adhere to safety, material handling, and security procedures.
• Support varied age-specific patient populations.

Job Summary

Per Diem, Days

A Patient Care Technician is responsible and accountable for assisting the RN or LPN in the provision of patient care and tending to the personal care needs of the patient as directed by the RN or LPN, as well as functioning as a unit secretary. Unit Secretary duties include, but are not limited to, the transcription and data entry of physician orders, retrieving patient information, maintaining patients' data records, answering phones, taking and reporting messages, running errands, delivery and pick up of specimens and supplies, as well as ordering and restocking of unit supplies.

Responsibilities

• Reports for scheduled shift on time and prepared to assume responsibilities.
• Attends and participates in meetings and is responsible for information communicated at meetings.
• Adheres to Corporate, Regional, hospital and departmental policy and procedure 100% of the time.
• Assists all patients, family members, physicians, visitors and employees in a professional and courteous manner.
• Follows Infection Control procedures at all times.
• Adheres to the Safety Policies and Procedures, the use of MSDS sheets, Hazardous Material procedures, and Safety Codes.
• Demonstrates adequate knowledge of Security issues, i.e., personal protection, protection of personnel and hospital property.
• Adheres to the following environmental care standards. Demonstrates adequate knowledge of Safety Policies and Procedures, the use of MSDS sheets, Hazardous Material procedures, and Safety Codes.
• Demonstrates the ability to adapt to varied age-specific patient populations.

Qualifications

EDUCATION.

• Minimum: High School Diploma or equivalent.

EXPERIENCE:

• Previous Patient Care Technician experience preferred.

REQUIRED CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE/REGISTRATION:

• Certified Nursing Assistant (C.N.A) or E.M.T. and documented evidence of successful completion of an accredited nursing school program.
• Current American Heart Association BLS Certification
• Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) – 90 days from hired date

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:

• None required.
