Job summary

The BSA Health System in Amarillo, TX is seeking a night-shift, full-time Emergency Room (ER) Patient Care Technician (PCT). You will provide basic patient care under nursing supervision, assist with activities of daily living, and monitor patients while documenting vital signs.

Ideal candidates have completed some high school, are BLS certified within 14 days of hire, and may pursue PCT or CNA certifications.

Qualifications

• Must have completed some high school education.
• BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire.
• Preferred: HS diploma, PCT competencies, CNA or related certification.

Responsibilities

• Provides basic patient care under nursing supervision.
• Assist patients with bathing, dressing, eating, and other ADLs.
• Observes progress and reports to the nurse.
• Obtains and records vital signs and collects specimens as needed.

Learn About a Day in the Life of a PCT:

Responsibilities

• Works in an entry-level position providing basic patient care under nursing supervision.
• Assists patients with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, eating, and other ADLs.
• Observes patients’ progress to prepare and disseminate reports to the nurse.
• Obtains and records patients' vital signs and collects specimens for lab tests.

Qualifications

Job Requirements:

• Must have completed some high school education.
• BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and prior to providing direct patient care.

Preferred Job Requirements:

• High School Diploma or GED Equivalency.
• Completion of High School PCT competencies.
• Certification as a PCT (Certified Care Technician) or CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant).
