Job summary

Mercy Health is seeking a Patient Care Technician (PCT) for the Ortho/Neuro Unit at Fairfield Hospital. The role supports nurses with basic patient care, monitoring vital signs, and daily activities, ensuring comfort and safety for patients.

Qualifications

• Experience in acute care settings preferred.
• Recent healthcare experience in hospital or long-term care.
• BLS Basic Life Support certification preferred (upon hire).

Responsibilities

• Provide basic patient care, monitor vital signs, assist with activities of daily living.
• Serve as liaison between patient and nurse to report changes.
• Deliver high-level customer service to patients, families, visitors and staff.
• Document patient care accurately and timely.
• Participate in hand-off reporting of patient needs on arrival and departure.
• Assist with mobility and safe transfers.
• Encourage patient independence and engagement in activities.
• Individualize care based on patient interests and hobbies.
