Job summary

UNMH is seeking a Nursing Assistant/Unlicensed Personnel to provide direct, non-invasive patient care in inpatient or outpatient settings. Responsibilities include taking vital signs, assisting with ADLs, transporting patients, and observing for safety.

The role requires CPR/BLS within 30 days and may involve Neonate to Geriatric care depending on assignment. The position is PRN with a 0.05 FTE and rotating shifts, within the Staffing Department - SRMC.

Qualifications

• High School or GED Equivalent.
• Certificate.
• CNA or Cert EMTB (ICU & ED) or 1 semester accredit nurs pgm.
• CPR for Healthcare/BLS Prov or Prof Rescuers w/in 30 days.

Responsibilities

• Follow patient safety-related policies, procedures and protocols.
• Enhance professional growth and development through participation in educational programs and workshops.
• Demonstrate proactive approach to patient safety by questioning current policies and processes.
• Identify and report environmental conditions that may put a patient at risk.
• Report potential or actual patient safety concerns, medical errors or near misses in a timely manner.
• Provide basic patient care; take and record vital signs including temperature, pulse, respiration, weight, height, BP and intake-output.
• Observe patient to ensure safety and report observations to Charge Nurse.
• Assist with activities of daily living (ADL): meals, ambulation, hygiene, linen change and toileting.
• Maintain therapeutic plan of care and minute-to-minute care for patients at extreme risk to self or others.
• Complete documentation on the Electronic Medical Record.
