Job summary

MUSC Health is seeking a Patient Care Technician (PCT) to support a decentralized, patient‑centered care approach under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. The role includes measuring vital signs, identifying patient concerns, and reporting them to the care team to ensure comfort and safety.

Responsibilities include assisting with daily patient needs, monitoring conditions, and supporting nursing staff with treatments while maintaining cleanliness and supply levels.

Qualifications

• Basic Life Support (BLS) required on hire and maintained thereafter.
• High school diploma or GED required; one year of patient care experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Keep patient rooms tidy and sanitized
• Assist patients with daily needs and personal care
• Monitor vital signs and patient condition
• Assist nursing staff with basic treatments
• Ensure adequate patient care supplies and clean linen
• Provide emotional support to patients
• Place patient on cardiac monitor
• Empty drains, ostomies and foley bags
• Perform blood sugar checks
• Assist with other duties assigned by department leader
