Job summary

The Medical University Hospital Authority’s MUSC Health is seeking a Patient Care Technician to support a decentralized, patient-centered approach under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. The PCT will measure and document vital signs, assist with ADLs, ensure patient comfort and safety, and identify and report patient concerns to the care team.

An empathetic, patient-focused individual with good communication and organizational skills will thrive in this role, collaborating with the Manager

Qualifications

• Basic Life Support (BLS) required upon hire.
• High School Diploma or GED required.
• One year of patient care experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Keep patient rooms tidy and sanitized
• Assist patient with everyday needs (hygiene, bathroom, grooming)
• Monitor vital signs (temperature, pulse, etc.) or ECG signals and patient condition
• Assist nursing staff in administering basic treatments
• Ensure rooms have adequate patient care supplies, linen is clean
• Assist patients with particular issues or needs
• Provide appropriate emotional support
• Place patient on cardiac monitor
• Empty drains, ostomies, Foley bags
• Perform blood sugar checks
• Assist with other duties assigned by the department leader
