Job summary

Medical University of South Carolina is seeking a Patient Care Technician to support a decentralized, patient-centered care model. Under RN supervision, you will measure vital signs, report concerns, and assist with patient transfers and daily activities in a hospital setting.

The role emphasizes patience, empathy, and strong communication while collaborating with the Nurse Manager and Care Team to ensure comfort and safety for patients across shifts.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• One year of patient care work experience in a health care facility is preferred.
• BLS certification required upon hire.

Responsibilities

• Keep patient rooms tidy and sanitized.
• Assist patients with daily activities including hygiene and grooming.
• Monitor vital signs and patient condition, including EKG signals.
• Assist nursing staff in administering basic treatments.
• Ensure rooms have adequate patient care supplies and clean linen.
• Provide emotional support and communicate patient concerns to the Care Team.
• Place patient on cardiac monitor when required.
• Assist with drains, ostomies, Foley bags, and blood sugar checks.
