Job summary

The University of Texas Medical Branch is seeking dedicated healthcare staff to provide essential patient care in a hospital setting. A range of training programs and direct patient care experience are accepted, with BLS required at hire.

The role includes supporting daily activities, vital signs, sample collection, and safe patient handling. Successful candidates will work on the Jennie Sealy Hospital unit, with a focus on compassionate, privacy-conscious care and adherence to infection control

Qualifications

• Must have completed one of the listed programs or possess 2 years of direct patient care experience.
• Must have Basic Life Support (BLS) certification at hire.
• Certified MA, PCT, or CNA status at hire or enrollment in nursing school with clinical coursework.

Responsibilities

• Collect, report, and document vital signs, height/weight, intake/outtake, pulse oximetry, and specimens.
• Obtain blood samples by venipuncture.
• Acquire 12-lead EKG and perform POCT.
• Assist with patient activities and care per care plan.
• Support personal hygiene, feeding, mobility, and safety of patients.
• Maintain patient privacy and confidentiality; ensure clean, safe care areas.
