Job summary

The University of Maryland Medical System is seeking a dedicated nursing assistant to provide direct patient care in a full-time role with rotating shifts. You will take vital signs, assist with activities of daily living, and support the care team in delivering safe, effective patient care.

Responsibilities include recording vital signs, assisting with admissions/discharges, wound care support, and ensuring patient comfort and safety across units. CNA/GNA certification and BLS are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Current Maryland CNA or GNA certification required.
• No prior healthcare experience required; prior direct patient care in a facility is a plus.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.

Responsibilities

• Performs testing and manages patient care based on results and clinical findings.
• Records patient care along the continuum, including ADLs (feeding, bathing, dressing, toileting, transfers).
• Completes, documents and reports vital signs (temperature, BP, pulse, respiration, SpO2, pain).
• Assists in admission, transfer and discharge of patients.
• Promotes patient safety and fall prevention.
• Collaborates with health care team to implement the plan of care.
