Job summary

The University of Maryland Medical System is seeking a CNA/GNA to provide direct patient care under supervision. You will take vital signs, perform blood draws and specimen collection, assist with ADLs, and participate in interdisciplinary rounds to support patient safety and comfort.

Required Maryland CNA or GNA certification and BLS, with high school diploma. Prior direct patient care is preferred but not required; training provided on the job.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Maryland CNA or GNA certification required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.

Responsibilities

• Performs testing and manages the care of the patient based on results and clinical findings.
• Records patient care along the continuum, including activities of daily living (ADLs): feeding, bathing, dressing, toileting and transferring.
• Completes, documents and reports patient vital signs (temperature, blood pressure, pulse, respiration, oxygen saturation and reported pain level).
• Assists in admission, transfer and discharge of patients.
• Promotes patient safety including fall prevention and maintains the safety of the clinical environment for patients, visitors, and staff."
• Collaborates with health care team to carry out the plan of care and reports observed changes in patients’ condition.
