Johns Hopkins Medicine - Johns Hopkins Howard County Medical Center in Columbia, MD is hiring a Patient Care Technician (PCT) to support nursing staff in the Emergency Department. This full-time, day-shift role offers a 36-hour work week, with weekend work required and benefitted status.

Under the supervision of a nurse, you will perform direct patient care, document essential information, and operate basic care equipment.

Qualifications

• High School graduate or equivalent.
• Active Maryland CNA certification.
• Current BLS CPR certification.
• One year of clinical experience required.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care under nurse supervision.
• Record and report pertinent clinical information.
• Use specialized patient care equipment safely and effectively.

Education

High School diploma or equivalent

Active Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification (Maryland Board of Nursing)

The Patient Care Technician (PCT) performs direct patient care tasks under the supervision of a nurse and taking into consideration the developmental needs of the patient, performs routine patient activities and delegated patient care procedures of a specialized and technical nature as competency documentation designates. The PCT utilizes basic clinical skills to support daily patient care activities, accurately records and reports pertinent clinical information, and demonstrates proficiency in the use of specialized patient care equipment to ensure a safe and supportive care environment.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High School graduate or equivalent
• Active Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification on Maryland Board of Nursing
• Current BLS CPR certification provided by AHA, American Red Cross, or Military Training Network
• One year of clinical experience is required

Salary Range: Minimum 18.41/hour - Maximum 27.70/hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility. In cases where the range is displayed as a $0 amount, salary discussions will occur during candidate screening calls, before any subsequent compensation discussion is held between the candidate and any hiring authority.
