Position Details

• Department: Neuroscience ICU Unit
• Shift: 7:00 pm-7:00 am, Full Time, 36 hours/week, 72 hours per pay period
• Facility: Miami Valley Hospital

Role Overview

A Patient Care Technician (PCT) is a vital member of the hospital team who works closely with nurses and doctors to care for patients. Responsibilities include:

• Monitoring vital signs such as temperature, heartbeat, and respiration
• Assisting patients with mobility, dressing, and eating
• Collecting samples like blood or urine
• Cleaning and changing bandages
• Reporting changes in patient condition to nursing staff

The PCT works under supervision to ensure safe and effective patient care. Sometimes, the role may also involve administrative tasks as a Unit Clerk (HUC) to support hospital operations, which enhances patient care quality.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or GED
• Training: CPR training provided during orientation
• Experience: No prior experience required, but candidates should have:
• Completed STNA, CNA, or PCT training
• Recent patient care experience within 5 years (e.g., vital signs, bathing, toileting)
• Or currently in nursing school with at least one clinical rotation completed
