Job summary

Virginia Commonwealth University Health is seeking a Patient Care Technician for the Earn to Learn program. The role provides direct, age-specific patient care under RN supervision, with rotating shifts in a clinical unit.

Responsibilities include vital signs, hygiene assistance, mobility support, and adherence to safety and infection control policies. Requires a high school diploma, and CNA certification is preferred; BLS HCP is required.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Preferred: Certified Nursing Assistant certification.
• AHA BLS HCP certification or equivalent is required.

Responsibilities

• Provide safe and direct care to patients in the assigned unit, with age-appropriate adjustments.
• Monitor patients' conditions and provide updates to the health care team.
• Maintain supplies, equipment, and environment per policy to ensure safety and readiness.
• Obtain and record patient information (vital signs, intake/output, etc.) throughout care cycles.
• Attend mandatory trainings and adhere to infection control policies.
• Ensure patient safety and report incidents to licensed staff.
• Assist with feeding, hydration, mobility, and activities of daily living.
