Job summary

MercyOne Health System in Des Moines, IA, is seeking a Patient Care Tech to support professional clinical staff with direct patient care and tests. The role features 12-hour day shifts (7:00 AM – 7:30 PM), with rotating weekends and holidays, and variety by shift or unit.

You will deliver care under supervision, assist with daily activities, document patient information, and participate in safety and procedural tasks in a busy hospital setting.

Qualifications

• Must be 16 years of age.
• Proof of completion of Mandatory Reporter – Child and/or Dependent Adult Abuse training within three (3) months of hire.
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certified within six (6) weeks of hire.

Responsibilities

• Delivers assigned patient care and treatment as delegated by an RN or LPN.
• Assists patients with activities of daily living such as hygiene, ambulation, feeding, and transfers.
• Responds to patient calls and ensures safety and comfort through rounding and safe handling.
• Measures vital signs, collects specimens, and records entries in health records.
• Initiates or assists with emergency measures and provides post‑mortem care as needed.
• Sets up equipment and rooms for procedures, admissions, and transfers.

Education

Minimum age 16

Mandatory Reporter training within 3 months of hire

American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Providers within 6 weeks of hire
