Princeton Community Hospital is seeking a patient care assistant to support licensed medical staff in delivering high-quality care. You will handle routine patient care, record vitals, and assist with admissions, transfers, and discharges in a fast-paced environment.

The role requires a high school diploma and BLS within 30 days, with prior patient care experience preferred. This is a non-exempt position with part-time hours and opportunities to work closely with a nursing team.

Responsibilities

• Observe and report patient concerns to a registered nurse immediately.
• Assist with admission, transfer, discharge and general patient care tasks.
• Record vital signs and assist with personal hygiene and comfort measures.
• Record oral intake and outputs, monitor temperature and blood pressure.
• Assist in specimen collection and related activities.
• Maintain clean, safe environment to prevent infections and ensure safety.
• Report equipment issues to appropriate personnel promptly.
• Prepare patients for examinations and diagnostic procedures.
• Communicate nutrition issues to the RN and explain diet changes.
• Assist department with administrative tasks and answer call bells.
• Complete required education for specialty accreditation as defined.

This position performs nonprofessional direct and indirect patient care activities including personal, physical and comfort needs of patients, under the supervision of a registered professional nurse. This position will provide high-quality patient care in coordination with licensed medical staff.**MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:****EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:**1. High School Diploma or equivalent.2. Obtain certification in Basic Life Support within 30 days of hire date.**PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:******EXPERIENCE:****1. Prepares patients for examinations and diagnostic procedures according to departmental procedure.8. Communicates with RN regarding any nutrition issues, such as poor appetite or verbalized lack of understanding of diet changes.10. Assists department with administrative tasks to support the department operations.11.
