PVH Potomac Valley Hospital in Keyser, WV seeks a Certified Nursing Assistant to provide direct and indirect patient care under supervision of a professional nurse. You will support admissions, discharges, vital signs, hygiene, and comfort, while maintaining a safe, clean environment.

Required: High School Diploma, BLS within 30 days, and state Nurse's Aide Certification (WV/MD/OH/PA). Prior patient care experience is preferred.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • BLS certification within 30 days of hire.
  • Nurse's Aide Certification required per state where services are performed (WV/MD/OH/PA).

Responsibilities

  • Observe and report patient concerns to Nursing Staff immediately.
  • Assist Nursing Staff with admission, transfer, discharge and routine care.
  • Record vital signs and assist with hygiene and comfort measures.
  • Record oral intake and outputs and monitor vital signs.
  • Assist in specimen collection and activities for assigned patients.
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment to prevent infections.
  • Report equipment issues to appropriate personnel promptly.
  • Prepare patients for examinations and procedures.
  • Communicate nutrition concerns to Nursing Staff.
  • Assist department with administrative tasks and answer patient call bells.

Job description

This position performs nonprofessional direct and indirect patient care activities including personal, physical and comfort needs of patients, under the supervision of a professional nurse. This position will provide high-quality patient care in coordination with licensed medical staff.**MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:****EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:**1. High School Diploma or equivalent.2. Obtain certification in Basic Life Support within 30 days of hire date.3. Current Certification issued by state where services will be performed: * **MD:** Certified Nursing Assistant through the Maryland Department of Health* **OH:** Nurse's Aide Certification through the Ohio Department of Health* **PA:** Nurse's Aide Certification through the Pennsylvania Department of Health* **WV:** Nurse's Aide Certification through the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources**PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:******EXPERIENCE:****1. Reports all necessary equipment repairs to appropriate personnel according to departmental procedure in a timely manner.7. Prepares patients for examinations and diagnostic procedures according to departmental procedure.8. Communicates with Nursing Staff regarding any nutrition issues, such as poor appetite or verbalized lack of understanding of diet changes.10. Assists department with administrative tasks to support the department operations.11.
