Eastside Medical Center in Snellville, GA, is hiring a Patient Care Tech for the Cardiac Care Unit. The role supports nursing staff on a 3 x 12 schedule (11am-11pm) or nights (7pm-7am) with every other weekend requirements.

Experience in a hospital setting is highly preferred. The CCU focuses on cardiac and vascular patients, offering an intermediate/step-down level of care with a collaborative team.

Qualificações

• HS diploma or GED preferred.
• No experience required; 1 year preferred.
• BCLS upon hire required.
• CNA certification preferred.
• PCT program certification preferred.

Responsabilidades

• Assist with patient assessments and document vitals and data.
• Support mobility, feeding, hygiene, glucose checks and turning.
• Document in EMR in a timely manner.
• Communicate with care partners and notify nurse of changes.
• Assist with admissions and discharges and patient intake.
• Reinforce education provided by licensed staff.
• Respond to call lights and alarms; perform sitter/unit secretary duties if needed.
• Other duties as assigned.

Full Time Evenings OR Full Time Nights available

*Schedule is 3 x 12 hours (11am-11 pm) shifts per week and every other weekend requirement

Cardiac Care Unit:

• 18-bed cardiac unit specializes in the care of both cardiac and vascular patients.
• The typical patient population found in the CCU includes but is not limited to patient's with diagnosis of chest pain, cardiac dysrhythmias, CHF exacerbation, hypertensive emergency, pulmonary embolism and/or DVT, and patient's that have had AAA repair and carotid endarterectomy.
• Our unit is an intermediate/step down unit.
• Supported by a Team of Unit Secretary, Patient Care Tech's, Registered Nurses, Charge Nurses and Clinical Manager

Responsibilities:

The Patient Care Tech, under the supervision of licensed clinical staff, provides care to patients from birth through the lifecycle, demonstrating competency with treatments, procedures and equipment appropriate to the clinical setting and hospital policy.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Assists with patient assessments to include collection of data regarding the patient's physical, psychosocial, health history and document patient safety and quality initiatives.
• Assists patients and healthcare team with mobility, feeding, oral care, bathing, toileting, glucose checks, patient turning to maintain skin integrity and purposeful rounding while functioning independently with treatments, equipment and procedures appropriate to the scope of clinical practice.
• Documents in the EMR in a timely manner all vital signs and treatments provided.
• Communicates between all care partners effectively. Ensures primary nurse is aware of any issues, changes in patient condition, or concerns.
• Assists with admission and discharge process. Meets patient in the room when admitted whenever possible to obtain vital signs and assist with patient intake.
• Reinforces patient education provided by licensed staff.
• Responds to call lights and fall alarms.
• Where applicable, if acting in the Sitter role, the Patient Care Tech must remain with the patient at all times unless relieved by an appropriate staff member.
• Where applicable, if acting in the Unit Secretary role, the Patient Care Tech will act as a clerical resource for all staff to help facilitate the proper care and potential movement of the patient through the facility and beyond while managing incoming calls and visitors in a positive manner.
• All other duties as assigned.
